Senior Panel 2 will consist of a group of two high school senior or college freshman describe how to generate college lists based on capabilities and take them through their process and workshop style.

The volunteers presented a slideshow about course selection that can be generalized for all schools, and a questions were answered throughout and at the end of the session.

Solomon Consulting

The college counseling company Solomon Consulting spoke to parents and students regarding the services they offer, how they help students get into top-tier colleges, and the college admissions process itself while also answering questions in the second half of the session. The recording for the session itself is not available, but Solomon Consulting has shared with us YouTube videos of the information they presented.

Course Selection Additional Q&A

The volunteers answered additional questions that parents and students had from the session that was held on 2/20.

Standardized Testing Session

The volunteers presented a slideshow about standardized tests (SAT, ACT, & PSAT) and how it has been affected by COVID-19, and all questions were answered at the end of the session. Vaidehi, a senior at American High School, who attended Elite Prep in the summer of her sophomore year, described her experience there and how Elite helped her improve her SAT score.

Talk with Saniya

Saniya, a student from American High School who will be attending MIT in the upcoming fall, presented to us about her high school journey (academics, extra-curriculars, research programs, and recommendation letters). The second half of the session was Q&A with questions from parents and students constantly coming in.

The volunteers presented a slideshow about community college courses, online high school courses, the middle college program, the benefits of community college courses in the college application, and how to apply fro them. Towards the end of the session, we answered questions from parents and students about the topics discussed in the presentation.

A Stanford Admissions Officer for Alameda County and some other regions, Mr. Latif Legend, spoke to us about some of the elements that Stanford looks for in applicants and his experience as an admissions officer in a unique year with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Pareen Mhatre, who has been working to tackle the difficulties that immigrants can face in the college admissions process, talks to us live about her exprience with the college admissions process and the work she has done recently in her organization.

Meet Duke Admissions Officer Mr. Dudley

Mark Dudley, an admissions officer from Duke University, gives us a presentation first about how Duke views students' college application. The second half of the session follows a Q&A from parents and students to learn more about Duke, the admissions process in general, and the work of admissions officers.

The volunteers presented a slideshow about volunteering and summer opportunities that you can pursue, including internships and research programs. After the slideshow, there was a short Q&A period where parents and students asked questions regarding the presentation.
